Rec Council Programs

West Carroll Rec Council (WCRC):  Use this link to view the WCRC Website and all of its affiliated programs.  In prior years, basketball was offered to the WCRC (New Windsor and Union Bridge) and TAYB (Taneytown) areas through two separate programs.

TAYB Joins WCRC:  In September 2013, the TAYB organization became an affiliated program of the West Carroll Recreation Council.  This affiliation allowed TAYB to continue to use the local public schools in the Taneytown area through partnerships with the Carroll County Parks and Rec.  We have benefited through strong partnerships and cooperation between peers/coordinators in New Windsor, Union Bridge and Taneytown areas.

FSK Jr Eagles Basketball:  As of September 2016, the TAYB and WC basketball programs have decided to partner together for the 2016-2017 recreational basketball season.  With the impending closure of New Windsor Middle, all of the 6th through 8th graders in the New Windsor, Union Bridge, Uniontown and Taneytown areas will be attending Northwest Middle.  Therefore, we have decided to combine our registrations into one Website.  Our older recreational programs (U12-U19) will be registered and combined under one umbrella.  Our elementary age children will continue to play in programs that are based out of their own communities and elementary schools.  In future seasons, the WCRC and TAYB programs will be working more closely together to offer recreation basketball for all of the communities that fall within the FSK High School area.  Our coordinators are still working through plans for future seasons, and more details will be provided to our respective memberships at a later date.

Our Mission

The mission of FSK Jr. Eagles Basketball is to provide the boys and girls of Taneytown, Union Bridge, New Windsor and surrounding areas, from pre-K through high school, with an opportunity to participate in recreation basketball activities.  Our programs are primarily targeted at pre-K through 8th grade for the youth of our area, but we do not restrict participation from youth in our surrounding areas that would like to join.

Through the combined efforts of parents, coaches, players and community, the FSK Jr. Eagles program strives to achieve these following goals:

  • To make our recreation program accessible to all youth who have an interest in playing and learning the game of basketball and to keep the program affordable for all families, regardless of their economics situation.
  • To teach the game of basketball and associated skills to youth that range from pre-K through high school.
  • To help all youth advance their skills, so that each child can achieve their individual goals. We strive to help each child advance their skills and knowledge of the sport, regardless of their experience, abilities or knowledge of the game. We strive to instill the value that no one child is more important than any other child or the program.
  • To teach and instill sportsmanship, respect and positive social behaviors that can improve each individual beyond their time on the court.
  • To provide recreational opportunities for youth in a positive environment and keep the youth of our community active, especially during the winter months.

We are governed by an independent board, elected each year by the membership. The board appoints coordinators for each of our programs and works in affiliation with the West Carroll Recreation Council (more info below).

Our primary means of funding is through registration fees of our players and annual fund-raisers.
